GOVERNMENT OF PEACE
Scripture Reading - Isaiah 9:6-7
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. KJV
These verses assure us that our Lord has set His Will to govern us so that we can have peace. We notice that the very first thing mentioned as to why He was given unto us was for government. We must realize that these two verses are speaking of two different governments that are linked together in Christ. The first government is “our government” as a human (a person) and that explains why Jesus came to us in this earth. Mankind was governed by the devil, yes Satan was our lord and governed our mind (thinking) and our activities (actions). However, since Jesus came to set us free we now have the right and privilege to be governed by Our Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit of God. God’s government of our life brings Peace primarily because our God is the Prince of Peace. Secondly, we then see according to verse 7 that “His government” of peace shall increase. This is due to the fact that His government has been established in Heaven and now it has come to the earth. The increase is bringing order, judgment and justice to earth to establish it in His righteousness. The effect of this new order of government will be peace to no end. This means establishing the government of God in your life upon the earth will open an endless supply of God’s Peace in your heart and soul. “His government” of Jesus basically means you are allowing the principles and precepts of God’s Word to government your thought life, your relationships and your actions. The reason it can last forever is because the principle’s (and precepts) of God’s Word are changeless (timeless). Hence, we can grow in the knowledge of God’s Word to give His Holy Spirit more light to guide us. His guidance will better establish God’s Government in our life and the lives of our household. In the world all nations have governments but as Christian’s we can take great refuge in the fact that we are Heaven’s ambassadors (yes, sons and daughters of God) carried upon the government of His Board Shoulders as a Mighty God over us. Our fixed (unmovable) position in Christ Jesus makes us unbreakable in this world because our Governor reigns supreme in His Kingdom and in our world forever. Amen!
